Dry ingredients:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 1/2 cup corn starch

Wet ingredients:

  • 3 to 4 Tablespoons distilled water
  • 1/2 to 1 Tablespoon of Lavender Essential Oil
  • A few drops of food coloring (optional) *

Miscellaneous Supplies:

  • Large bowl
  • Large spoon
  • Spray bottle (you can get a cheap one at the dollar store)
  • Molds or meat baller

In large bowl use a large spoon and mix all of the dry ingredients together thoroughly. Use the back of your spoon to press out any lumps or coarse pieces. You want the mixture to be smooth.

Mix the wet ingredients in an spray bottle. Shake well. Start spraying the dry mixture and mix as you spray. Try spraying 3 or 4 times and then mixing. Repeat until the dry mixture begins to take form. It is ready when it holds a shape if you hold it in your hand, somewhat like wet sand. You do not want the mixture to be too wet or the citric acid will start to fizz.

Press the mixture into the molds. If you're using a meatballer, fill each side and then press together tightly. Release the bomb from the mold and let dry on wax paper. You may also want to let them dry in the mold for a few hours. Larger bombs may need more drying time. Remove from mold and let dry for 1 week before use.

* Use red and blue to make purple. Don't use too much in the mixture and you will get a lavender color.
